This is my first year performing for Demonika and I have to admit WHAT AN AWESOME RUSH!!! I’m still recovering from the incredible but BUSY weekend! I’m pretty sure I was dangerously overdosing on Rockstar Energy drinks as the days were long and tiresome. We had a HUGE Makeup and Stylist team – They were totally AWESOME and very talented. I honestly did not expect this to be such a huge production!

We performed at the Warehouse last Saturday, May 23rd, 2009, at the Warehouse then broke into the Edmonton scene for the first time on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Starlite Room/Brixx Bar and Grill. Demonika definitely did an INCREDIBLE job making sure that all the attendees got MORE than their monies worth.

The doors opened at 9:00 PM for the Calgary show and the lineups were just ridiculous! We made sure the venue was set up to be a different world for everyone to step into. All the performers scattered across the room, fully dressed up and in character. My footwear was just KILLING ME and I didn’t dance too much – my heart ached to creep around the room and snarl at the attendees but my killer boots refused to allow me to do so. *Sigh*

People entered to beautiful swing girls swinging on either side of the stage, gorgeous, scantily clad Underground women of every shape, size, type, colours (purple and pink included – lol) walking around to greet our hungry guests to feast their eyes on.
The attendees were just as beautiful as the performers – coming in dressed in their best outfits – everything from fetish, Punk, Nerd, Military, to even a Knight in Armour! I was STOKED! Seeing EVERYONE involved and dressed to the nines gave me enough energy to continue to wait for our set – which was the second last show. I’ve been an insomniac for over 10 years now – the energy in that room was intense… I was afraid that I might not have lasted the night but thanks to the crowd, they fed me my much needed energy.

Finally… It was almost 1 AM and our set got ready for the stage. I began to sweat even more profusely and my heart was beating so hard and fast I thought my chest was going to burst. I had a mix of adrenaline and about 5 Rockstars coursing through my veins as I heard the crowd cheering as our MC, Bruce, announced our act. The Drop-Dead-Gorgeous-Cop-Curtain Girls teased the crowd as they peeled the curtains back, revealing the stage and our music filled the room. I close my eyes and slowly calmed myself into my demonic cycle slut character then creeped onto the stage. I quickly forget about trembling nerves and glared into the screaming crowd. I also forgot how sleep deprived and exhausted I was and fed off the energy the beautiful crowd gave me. For the first time, I felt our set was too short. I wanted to drink it all in forever. I was thirsty for more.
I was still running on adrenaline after we done our set. Now it’s time to take our beer onstage to bring in Demonika’s Grand Finale. I felt completely comfortable onstage at this point and found myself revelling in the lights and the high I got from the audience. I felt complete pride in my chest when EVERYONE went wild when the Goddess of the Night, Demonika finally made her long-anticipated entrance onto center stage. I remember the first time I watched her do the Bed of Nails, I cringed and hoped that she wasn’t hurting too much. Now I watched with my eyes all wild with anticipation. I watched with absolute pride as my team mates laid their entire weight ontop of Demonika on the Bed of Nails and as she even STOOD on top of her! I looked across the stage and even Bella Bane and Betty Doom were feeding off the crowd and encouraging more screams from the hungry, sadistic public. What a high! These last couple of months of hard work, finally came together onstage and I didn’t want it to end!

Many… Many thousand thank-yous to EVERYONE in the show! All of your hardwork, team effort, creativity, talent, had made me very proud to have been a part of this INCREDIBLE Underground show! I am thankful of the people I’ve met, the friends I’ve made and to be a part of Alberta’s Underground History. I am proud of being able to contribute.
Thank you Calgary for another successful, sold out show! I love you all!
Much Love,
Rica Chez/Jenny
